The exception unknown software exception

Have you experienced IE crashing whenever doing certain things within SharePoint 2003 or 2007. Earlier this week I started experiencing this problem when navigating through a SharePoint site or trying to open an Office document.

SysFader: iexplore.exe - Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0xc06d007f) occurred in the application at location 0×7c812a5b.

I had a hard time finding the solution and finally came across this blog by Kale Davis

You can fix this problem by installing the following update from Microsoft. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938888/
